from “Huyck’s Rules for Risk”. The Alternate Risk Card Troop Value rules are
from “Lord of the Rings Risk”. The other rules are ones that I have heard from
various places but do not know who originally created them. None of these are my own creation.

Battlefield Nuclear Weapons:

-Battlefield Nuclear Weapons, hereafter BNWs, are a tactical
weapon of a very limited range, usually 400 miles at the most. BNWs are used primarily
against an apposing army, most often before ground troops are sent in.

-BNWs are not available until after the third turn.

-BNWs can be “developed” or “purchased” by forfeiting three
armies during your reinforcement phase.

-Each player is limited to developing or purchasing one BNW
per turn.

-BNWs have the same mobility as a regular army unit.

-Each BNW may be used only once per turn.

-BNWs may be used in offensive operations or in defense.

-In an offensive capacity the BNW can only be used before a
ground assault and a ground assault must follow. You may not use BNWs to
“soften up” or simply destroy enemy armies unless you intend to attack.

-If the country being attacked doesn’t have a BNW play
proceeds as follows: The attacker rolls three dice, and defender rolls the max
number available (either two or one). The dice are paired highest, then next
highest as applicable with ties going to the attacker. The defender looses the
number of pairs that he lost plus one. A max of three defending armies may be
lost in a nuclear strike.

-If the country being attacked has BNWs they can be used in
defense. When the attacker declares a nuclear strike, the defender can use his
nukes in defense. The nuclear attack proceeds as a normal attack with the first
dice pair that the attacker looses destroying his BNW in that country. The
first pair that the defender looses destroys his BNW in his respective country.
A defender is not required to defend with a nuclear strike. If they do not,
then the attack is treated as though the country has no BNWs.

-BNWs may also be used in defense of a conventional attack.
When used in this capacity, the defender becomes the attacker for the first
battle of the boarder war. Rules proceed just as above.

Fatigue:

-There are four levels of Fatigue; Rested, Moderately
Rested, Moderately Fatigued, and Fatigued. The four levels measure the ability
of the armies to perform.

-A Rested army can potentially conquer 3 territories. For
each territory conquered, the fatigue level increases by one. After one
territory the army is Moderately Rested. After the second territory the army is
Moderately Fatigued. After the third territory the army is Fatigued.

-A Moderately Rested army can conquer two territories. The
fatigue level decreases as above.

-A Moderately Rested army can conquer one territory. The
fatigue level decreases as above.

-A Fatigued army cannot attack.

-At the beginning of every turn, the armies gain one level
rest. A Fatigued army will become Moderately Fatigued at the beginning of the next
turn. A Fatigued army that rests (does not attack) for three turns will become
a rested army.

-The level of fatigue is determined by simple majority. If
you are redeploying five Fatigued armies into a country with six Moderately
Rested armies all troops are assumed to be Moderately Rested. If you are
redeploying four armies of Rested status into a country with six Fatigued
armies all ten armies are considered to be Fatigued.

-Reinforcement armies are always Rested. The same Majority
rules apply to reinforcement armies as if they were being redeployed. If you
reinforce three Fatigued armies with two fresh Rested armies, the five armies
have a rating of Fatigued.

Alternate Risk Card Troop Values:

-Rather than using the increasing numbers at the bottom of
the game board, you can use the following table. You still get two additional
armies if one of the cards you are turning in has a country you control on it.

-Three Infantry cards = 4 Armies

-Three Cavalry cards = 6 Armies

-Three Artillery cards = 8 Armies

-One of each type of unit = 10 Armies.

Multiple World Risk:

-I know of two ways to do this. Both require that you have
more than one Risk board.

-Alaska/Kamchatka Connection:

-Lay the boards side by side, or in
a ring if you have enough boards, connecting each board with another through
the connection between Alaska and Kamchatka.

-The Alaska/Kamchatka pathway is
the only path from one game board to another. If you don’t have enough boards
to make a ring, the Alaska on one end of lined
up boards connects to the Kamchatka on the
other end.

-Parallel Worlds Risk:

-Set up the game boards next to
each other with a little space in-between each of them.

-The only way to travel from board
to board is going to the same country on another board as the one you just left
on the board you were on. In other words if you control South Africa on board
One, you can attack South Africa on another board if an opponent occupies it,
or you can move troops to the South Africa on another board if you occupy it.

<msn:type>blogentry</msn:type><live:type>blogentry</live:type><live:typelabel>Blog entry</live:typelabel>

<dcterms:modified>2006-09-11T23:44:23Z</dcterms:modified>
